IMEP offers Continuing Medical Education through the Emergency Response System(ERS)

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Need assistance with Emergency Preparedness Training? In search of CMEs? The Institute of Medical Emergency Preparedness (IMEP) announces Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for the innovative Emergency Response System(ERS)- a practical new emergency response system, designed to remedy the lack of training, and medical emergency preparedness that currently exists in most workplaces. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) CME Accreditation Department recently approved the Emergency Response System(ERS) for up to 12 elective credits. AAFP Accreditation is effective immediately.  The Academy of General Dentistry PACE Program has also approved the Emergency Response System for 12 hours of Continuing Education through all levels: Mastership, Fellowship and Member Maintenance.  AGD PACE Accreditation is also effective immediately.

"This activity (The ERS Emergency Action Guide) has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 12 Elective credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians," said a release from the AAFP CME Accreditation Department.   The Subcommittee also stated that, "The content may be of interest to physicians, particularly those organizing an Emergency-Team."

ERS was created by doctors to assist health care personnel and ordinary citizens in responding calmly, quickly and confidently to emergency and crisis situations. It is an ideal solution for schools, hospitals, public facilities and all workplaces - including plants and offices.

In the wake of natural emergencies, as seen through the catastrophic events resulting from Hurricane Katrina and Rita, there is a heightened national awareness of the need for Professional First Responders. Conventional or biomedical terrorist attacks are also a threat with hospitals and other healthcare environments often targeted, overwhelmed and needing to be best prepared.

"We are very pleased with the AAFP's decision to grant CME credits through the Emergency Response System as well as the AGD PACE program to do the same," states Dr. John Roberson, CEO and co-founder of IMEP. "The lack of preparedness in the most unlikely places, dental and medical environments, is astounding. To be efficient and effective during an emergency, you have to be properly educated, trained and prepared to act quickly.   We hope this encourages healthcare professionals and their staff to be more prepared during unforeseen crisis situations."

The Emergency Response System is practical, easy-to-understand and highly functional, since it can quickly be taken directly to the site of the emergency and to the affected person(s). It can also be used in situations where power outages render Internet medical information systems inoperable.

The ERS Mission is to become the universal standard for meeting every day medical emergencies in the school, workplace and home. The ERS consists of training manuals in Medical and Workplace Editions, and an Emergency Action Guide - designed to be used right at the site of the incident.

The ERS Emergency Action Guide contains easy-to-follow, step-by-step, doctor created treatment protocols that will enable ordinary people, who are prepared by ERS, to address 14 common medical emergencies in that critical time window before the EMS/911 services can arrive.

Just as a fire extinguisher can buy time or help contain a fire until the fire truck arrives, the ERS Emergency Action Guide can assist while stabilizing and treating a victim during that very critical period when you or a loved one may be may be just 10 Minutes from Life or Death.

IMEP is headquartered in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with offices in Birmingham, Alabama and sales and distribution in St. Louis, Missouri.
