9/1/2009 - EZ-IO: New Product for Immediate Vascular Access
The EZ-IO enables safe, simple, and speedy access to the patient's circulatory system when IV access is difficult or impossible. The EZ-IO can be used to establish stable and secure vascular access in less than 10 seconds - for both alert and unconscious children and adults.
Intraosseous (IO) access is the next preferred method for vascular access in many patients requiring rapid intubation or sedation, and those having compromised venous access like diabetics, dialysis patients, obese or dehydrated patients, and others.
For alert patients, the patented EZ-IO design reduces the pain of insertion. After insertion, a slow injection of 2% lidocaine can effectively block pressure sensors in the intraosseous space.
IO access has become an important technique in a variety of medical settings and the EZ-IO elevates this technique to a high standard of medical practice, cost efficiency, and patient care.
